On May 8th, SHS’s Class of 2026 hosted the annual Steilacoom’s Got Talent Show. The 12 acts showed off their incredible talents, giving us goosebumps and leaving the room in awe.
The first act of the night set the scene with senior Ava Leblanc singing “Skate” by Bruno Mars accompanied by her band White Lightning. Senior Ben Hegge led the rhythm on the drum set, Senior Adrian Ragil on the Xylophone, Senior Martin Teague performing on the saxophone, Junior Davion Pae strumming along on the electric guitar, Junior Christopher Pihlman on the bass, a strong pianist Senior Evoleno Oledan on the keyboard and Senior Noah Ping on the tenor saxophone. Our tough critics Spanish teacher Sarah Dorsch and her goddaughter, Lucia Virgil were our judges for the night and awarded White Lightning third place.
Our runners up were freshmen Janalys Colon and Leah Strader who sang “House of Gold” by Twenty One Pilots, with Strader on the Ukulele. Their performance beautifully harmonized their voices with the strum of the ukulele. The joy of singing with a friend was noticed by the audiences and the judges, giving them the honorable mention of the Steilacoom’s Got Talent runner-up.
Freshman Kenzie Snow-Macomber made her voice heard with a choreographed dance to “How Could You Leave Us” by NF. The dance was a tribute to the narrative of the song, which described the struggle and pain individuals face when a family member falls into drug abuse. The raw emotion and vulnerability Snow-Macomber displayed in her performance, left the audience with a deeper understanding of the effects of drug addiction on family members. Every move to each beat, perfectly captured the essence of heartache, to advocate for the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. The messages she communicated throughout her performance, awarded her the winner of the night!
