The Steilacoom High School Unified basketball team played their first game against Bethel High School’s Unified Basketball team. The Unified Sports Program is a program that lets students have an opportunity to play sports and have that connection of a team that they might not have otherwise. This program is designed to benefit both the players on the team, as well as the student body as a whole.
Bethel’s team gave the experience a supportive energy that the fans could feel throughout the whole game. The support and acceptance was clear. Steilacoom High School junior Nathan Slater enjoyed befriending the referees. According to Coach Adi Khalsa, SHS junior Kalissa Alenick was, “All heart and charged down the court making baskets.” Other team members were all smiles and high energy.
Next game is Saturday, Jan. 25 at 12pm at Fife High School against the Fife High School Unified Basketball team.
