Bliss Ice Cream recently announced their new “Ube” ice cream flavor, a Filipino ice cream flavor made of ube purple yams with a subtle nutty, vanilla-like flavor, on behalf of Steilacoom High School History Teacher Royce Albert.

Bliss Ice Cream held a competition for customers to submit ideas for new flavors for their shop, and the winner would be able to feature their flavor of choice in store. Albert submitted the flavor of “Ube” on behalf of his wife’s Filipino heritage, and his son’s love for the flavor. “I never really saw Ube ice cream anywhere, so I thought it would be nice to have because my wife and sons love it,” he said. You can find Albert’s photo hanging up at Bliss Ice Cream in University Place, where you can try out his new flavor.
