“We are doing things a little bit differently this year,” said new ASB adviser Sydney Balogh, “and that will mean we’re not doing the traditional homecoming floats that were driven around the track this year. Instead, what is going to happen is the homecoming royalty will be announced at the halftime of the game, and that will be the halftime show.”
With the changes in Homecoming Week this year, we have created a one-stop source with all the information. Here is everything you need to know for 2024 Homecoming:
SPIRIT WEEK
Monochrome Monday (Wear the same color head to toe)
Teacher Tuesday (Dress like a teacher)
Country Club or Country Wednesday
Jerseys Thursday (Team or Sports Jersey/gear!)
Gold Rush Friday (School Colors/yellow and gold)
PEP RALLY
The pep rally assembly is this Friday in the main gym, at 1:25pm and the day will run on a PM Assembly schedule. Lunches will be based on your 5th period classes. Friday’s spirit day and the theme of the football game is Gold Rush, or Yellow-Out. According to Balogh, there’s a lot planned for the assembly. The Homecoming Royalty finalists will be announced, and the band will play. Leadership will lead the classes in various cheers and chants to hype everyone up for homecoming.
FOOTBALL GAME
The homecoming football game is this Friday, Oct. 4 at 7PM. The theme for the football game is Gold Rush, which means wear gold or yellow to represent Steilacoom. Students can sit in the Red Zone, a front- and- center area of the stadium painted red and reserved for students. If students have ASB, entrance to the game is free. If they do not, tickets are $5. “They can pay online or at the gate,” said SHS Athletic Director, Tom Bradbury.
HOMECOMING ROYALTY
Nominations for homecoming royalty should be posted in advisory Google Classrooms, so make sure to fill those out. Royalty will be announced at the football game.
HOMECOMING DANCE
The dance is on Saturday, October 5, from 7-10PM, and will take place in the SHS main gym. As announced, the theme for homecoming this year is Meet Me At Midnight, which despite the perceived connection, is not an intentional reference to Taylor Swift’s Midnights, rather, guests can expect a certain aesthetic. “It’s kind of like… dark purple with balloons and there’s going to be a moon and some clouds,” said senior SHS cheerleader Montana Emerson. The deep blues, some purple, maroon, with plenty of glitter and stars will give off a vibe of nostalgic nightlife.
TICKETS and GUEST FORMS
Guest forms can be picked up at the front desk before school and during lunch and are due by Thursday, Oct. 3 by noon. Tickets are $25 per person without ASB, and $20 with ASB. They can be purchased at the bookkeeper or online at this link: Homecoming Dance Tickets ONLINE. The link only works for those with a Parent Skyward Account. Student Accounts will not work.
