Laufey is an Icelandic-Chinese indie singer-songwriter who produces Jazz and Ballad music. At the age of 15, she studied piano and the cello, and she was a guest soloist at the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. In early 2020, she gained popularity with her singles “Let You Break My Heart Again” and “Valentine” via social media. On Sept. 9th of this year, Laufey released her album “Bewitched” to the anticipation of many fans, featuring her unique blend of Jazz, Pop and Orchestral Music. Met with praise and acclaim from critics and people alike, the album is possibly one of the albums of our generation.

Bewitched is an album that went through the different types of relationships and heartbreaks that people can have in love. Each song is arranged in such a beautiful and melodramatic manner, that it´s impossible to not give it 5 more listens. It’s one of the most impactful albums I’ve ever listened to, and in turn the most important of our decade. Laufey’s Bewitched is an album that will become as timeless as it´s genre is.

Listening to Bewitched, from the start, felt like an old friend came to visit. It incited such feeling of familiarity and nostalgia from the moment I pressed play. The production lended itself to that feeling because of use of more classical or jazz instruments, and the consistent and cohesive sound leaves you wanting more. Her style is so timeless and meaningful as she shares many forms of love and care throughout the album. The loveliness of the album easily welcomes you to come back for several more listens to come. It’s guaranteed to make you feel something inside of your heart. Whether it be songs like Must Be Love or Letter To My 13 Year Old Self, there will be a song to stick with you, if not the whole album. Laufey’s Bewitched, one of the most beautiful and timeless albums of this year.
